ORGANIZATION FACTS

WHO IS AAD?
Athletes Against Drugs (AAD) is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1985 by Stedman Graham. Our passion is to help youth lead a healthy, productive life, and provide educational programs for underserved youth.

OUR CURRENT PROGRAMS
Our current programs include Literacy, Corporate speakers, Health & Wellness, Sports, Leadership and Special events with Athletes. Our focus is to improve the lives of our youth by instructing them on how to build healthy bodies, strong minds, and to live a drug-free life.

AAD HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM
We focus on providing ongoing health and wellness information to help youth make wise choices in the key areas of health, nutrition, fitness and substance abuse. Also available are cooking classes and other great opportunities to assist them in making healthy life decisions.

AAD & XXI CENTURY KIDS FIRST
We focus on distributing healthy and nutritional snacks to thousands of kids in After School Programs and Summer Programs throughout Chicago and Santa Barbara. During the summer of 2008, XXI KIDs 1st Foundation donated over 11,688 healthy snacks and bottled water packs to 132 non-profit programs and camps. Healthy snacks included fresh fruits and vegetables such as pears, apples, watermelons, oranges and carrots, granola bars, frozen treats such as GoGurt and fruit juice bars, Lesser Evil Snacks such as Krinkle Sticks and Kettlecorn.

AAD TEEN INTERACTIVE SITE/MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
AAD reaches thousands of youth via our online capabilities to promote healthy lifestyles. In addition, our website outreach will include youth forums, health tips, educational tips, Q&A for teens, teen news and live interviews with celebrities, athletes, professionals and doctors to encourage our teens to live a better life. AAD’s website allows youth to be mentored, educated and entertained while providing a hub with resources that allows AAD members to get information.

WHO HAVE WE SERVED?
AAD has served thousands of under-privileged youth during our 24 years of existence. Communities in Chicago we have provided our services to include high risk areas such as Lawndale, Logan Square, Englewood and a few more. In addition, AAD has a presence in Baltimore, Santa Barbara County, Phoenix, Virginia and LA with special events and leadership programs.

ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES?
We plan to increase our reach for the snack program to more after school programs, camps and the Bears Care kids with an estimate of 6,000 plus youth by end of 2009.

WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS / SUPPORTERS?
• Over 500 athletes and celebrities • Over 200 volunteers
