The ICIC was created as a support group for people with cochlear implants or potential recipients.

HLA- Illinois Cochlear Implant Chapter (ICIC) is a local chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America. Currently 65 members strong the ICIC was created in 1990 as a support group for people with cochlear implants or potential recipients. The ICIC is a resource of information that offers the hearing impaired and their families the opportunity to talk to people who have experienced the life altering cochlear implant surgery. For the fortunate people who have already received a Cochlear Implant, it offers them a chance to share their experiences and keep abreast of new improvements and modifications to the current Cochlear Implant technology. The ICIC meets 6 times a year and feature presentations from surgeons, audiologists, manufacturers and other hearing loss support specialists. More details are available at www.illinoisci.com.
