Founded in 1912, Junior League of Chicago (JLC) is a nonprofit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our 1,500 members donate 200,000 hours of service each year to empower at-risk women and children through mentoring, advocacy and education.
Currently, the JLC is working with local neighborhoods and community organizations to promote initiatives and education on the topic of health, wellness and nutrition for women and children.

Junior League of Chicago (JLC) is pleased to announce its 2009 Fall Book Author Series in partnership with the Union League Club of Chicago Authors Group.
Join us for a luncheon and candid conversation with Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State, as she addresses the unprecedented issues facing the world today and discusses her new book: Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat's Jewel Box. Secretary Albright will share compelling and entertaining stories behind her unique pin collection, acquired throughout her years as the top U.S. diplomat.
Proceeds will help fund Junior League of Chicago programs like Mad Hatters, a longstanding community project involving volunteers performing songs, skits and poems at local schools and libraries in disadvantaged neighborhoods to promote reading.
