The fact is: no one should fight cancer alone.
Imerman Angels was founded in 2003 by Jonny Imerman. While fighting testicular cancer at the age of 26, Jonny had the loving support of his friends and family, but never met anyone his age who was a cancer survivor. He walked the halls during his chemotherapy seeing the other people fighting cancer, alone, lying in bed, motionless. He wanted to talk to someone just like him, someone who truly understood and remembered – someone who had already beaten the same type of cancer. This was the beginning of Jonny’s vision.
The mission of Imerman Angels is to provide every cancer fighter free access to a cancer survivor within 24 hours of diagnosis in the United States by January 2013. Imerman Angels currently has 2200 cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers in the pair-up network and has made over 1000 pair-ups since their inception – 700 in 2008 alone!
