As the sub-prime mortgage crisis has taught us, America needs a financial system that builds on the hard-earned wages of working families, not one that drowns families in high-cost debt.

The Center for Economic Progress invites you to a one-on-one conversation with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, who has fought to put the Illinois consumer on equal footing with the powers from whom they are borrowing.

Attorney General Madigan is a leader in the national fight against mortgage rescue schemes, credit report abuses and protecting Illinois families from deceptive payday lenders. She will discuss the fallout from the economic crisis here in Illinois and across the nation and her work on several fronts to protect consumers from the devastating results of predatory lending and mortgage fraud.

A reception with wine and appetizers will precede the 6 p.m. discussion.
