Student leaders offer pro-bono consulting services for nonprofits

campusCATALYST’s mission is to catalyze nonprofits, communities, and the next generation of cross-sectoral leaders by engaging college and business school students in high-impact, pro-bono consulting services in partnership with community-based organizations. Based on the premise that a significant under-utilization of college students exists in university communities across the country, cC strives to create meaningful opportunities for service that encourage young people to integrate civic engagement into their future lives. Partnering with Northwestern University and the University of Chicago, campusCATALYST engages college students in the social sector through a rigorous experiential learning program that pairs university-sponsored academic courses on nonprofit management with a hands-on opportunity to provide capacity building support to nonprofits. Working in small groups of five with a business school mentor, students work on ten-week pro bono consulting engagements geared to increase nonprofit capacity and impact. cC believes that people are at the core of successful nonprofits; therefore, we are improving human capital in the social sector by cultivating tomorrow’s leaders and developing the capacity of today’s nonprofit directors.
